5 Low-Cost Ideas for Designing a Small Office Space
Designing Office Space
Making the most of a small office space means being strategic about how you configure your space plan and organize your storage. We've put together 5 affordable and simple ideas to help you maximize the space that will be effective for even the smallest of offices.
1. Use Neutral Colors
Colors can enhance productivity and help create a comfortable ambiance. If you're working with a small space, go for simplistic colors that are going to open up a small space and make it seem larger. Beige or cream colored walls are easy to complement with furnishings and decor. They're simple and calm, and are great for office spaces of all sizes. If you want to introduce another color, introduce one featured small wall to add some warmth and create an eye-catching feature.
2. Think Vertically
If you need a lot of storage units and you only have a small space, take advantage of floor to ceiling storage units that take up space vertically rather than valuable floor space.
3. Get Rid Of Clutter
Moving office is the perfect time to get rid of clutter and belongings that you don't need on a daily basis. Make several trips to the garbage of unwanted items that you've been hoarding and archive any old files that you won't need regular access to. Most office moving companies offer archive facilities that you can take advantage of to free up valuable workspace.
4. Use Dividers To Create Private Spaces
Some of your employees, in particular senior management or those involved in HR and finance may require a private area due to the very nature of their work. Rather than introducing private offices (which take up more office space), use dividers or partitions to allow for privacy.
5. Shelving
Shelving is one of the most cost effective, yet simple ways to save space, and is especially useful in a small office. Shelving can be used to store files and media and even printers that would otherwise quickly clutter up the office. Regardless of how small your office space is, we always recommend asking an office space planner to provide you with the most practical and flexible solutions to enable your business to operate efficiently.
