Business Energy-Saving Tips when Moving Office
Ways to Reduce Business Energy in your New Office
"Energy-saving" seems to be the buzz word at the moment, particularly in light of expedential increases in utility bills. Yet many businesses aren't translating the talk into action and are missing out on oppportunities to save energy and reduce their utility costs.
An office move is an ideal time to implement new processes and start-afresh. So here's a few tips on how to make your new office energy and cost efficient:
Compare Energy Suppliers
Dig out your latest utility bill and phone around other energy suppliers to ask their business energy tariffs. Beware of transfer/signing on fees though, but you'll be surprised how much you can save just from switching your energy supplier on a more competitive tariff.
Avoid Wastage
Close doors and windows when heating or air conditioning is on. Fitting draught excluders and making sure your premises are well insulated is also cost effective, with short payback times.
Maximize Natural Light
Are you making the most of the natural light in your building? Workstations should be positioned close to windows and windows should be obstructed by large storage units. Implement artificial light timers, daylight sensors and movement sensors which will only use artificial lighting when you really need it.
Switch Off Computers
Implement a new policy to staff when you move to your new office so that staff switch off their computer at the end of the working day. Switching it off out of hours and enabling standby features can dramatically reduce your energy consumption.
