Checklist of Things to Do for a Company Move
Company Move Checklist
1. Manage Your Time
Putting together a detailed Time Management Plan of what needs to be done (and by when) will provide enormous assistance to you as you begin the planning of your company move. You need to have a clear picture of the timeframe within which everything needs to get done. The Moving Office Timetable is a free template which interactively will give you help and guidance on how to utilize your time effectively for each key stage of your company move.
2. Budget Your Office Move
You must set a company relocation budget. It needs to be realistic and cover each and every cost item that you will incur during the moving office process. Do not let your company move costs get awy from you. For extra help on how to set a budget (and what cost items need to be included) then refer to the free Moving Office Budget Template.
3. Consider Your IT Equipment
Determine what technical support you're going to need for your company move. Investigate what IT equipment (copiers, phones, computers etc) needs moving and (re)installing in the new office. Then work out the most undisruptive plan to move them from A to B. Reference the IT Relocation Checklist for all of the best practice guidance on what to consider when moving your IT infrastructure.
4. Include Your Staff
Discuss your company move with your staff on a regular basis and get them as involved as possible. Set and plan out tasks for your employees so they can help you in the most effective way. Consider asking them to pack up social areas, label boxes and pack away their desk area. Check out the HR Guide to Moving Office for additional support in this key area.
5. Communicate Your Company Move
All of your stakeholders (employees, shareholders, customers, vendors, service providers etc) need to know that your company is moving offices. Don't forget your letterhead paper, business cards, company literature, business cards, website and other marketing collateral -- which will all need updating. To help save time than download the Change Of Address Checklist which details the best way to ensure that all interested parties are informed about your Company's office move.
