Data Backup during an Office Relocation
Relocating offices? Is your data secure? Are you sure?
It's very easy for data to suffer damage or loss during an office relocation if it is not backed up securely or is out of date. Having a secure and up-to-date backup is imperative when you are moving office in order to minimize risk and ensure that your valuable data stays protected during the move.
There are several options for you to consider to keep a backup of your data in a safe place.
These are:
Storing your data off-site (and away from the move) is a safe option. Ask your IT & Telecom Solution Provider whether they can recommend a good data storage center.
The Cloud has proven to be a popular and inexpensive storage facility for companies. It's also easy to restore, and can be automatically updated and accessible from anywhere with an internet connection.
IT Test Plan
When you are organizing your IT Relocation, you should include a Test Plan to make sure all your business-critical equipment is working correctly and to check that nothing has been damaged during the move. This needs to be done when everything is in situ, and before staff arrive - so as to minimize disruption and get business back up to full operation.
Contingency Plan
Having a contingency plan in the event of an IT disaster is also important. Your business is so dependent upon your IT equipment and phones working, and failing to have a workable backup plan could mean your business and clients suffer.
Just make sure you are sufficiently prepared for the worst case scenario and organize an alternative, such as a virtual office or somewhere where your staff can continue working in the event of an IT disaster. An office relocation is an exciting development for any business.
Make sure you are taking essential steps to protect your data to ensure a successful transition to your new office space. Not sure how to plan an IT Relocation? Check out our IT Relocation Checklist to ensure you have all the critical tasks covered.
