How long does it take to Relocate an Office?
Office Relocations - how long do they take?
One of the first things that need to be done once a company has decided to relocate, is to establish an approximate timeline for moving office. This will give you a rough idea about how long each stage within the office relocation process takes and ensures your office gets moved without delays and avoids any disruption to business.
Many companies do not leave sufficient time to plan their office relocation, and this can result in rushed or uninformed decisions, spending more money unnecessarily and can delay your entire office move.
How long an office relocation takes will depend enormously on your individual circumstances, requirements and resources, but here are the main items for your Office Relocation Checklist and approximate timeframes of how long they should take you:
Finding your new office space - deciding on your office space requirements, finding a suitable Tenant Rep Broker to expedite the process, viewing potential office properties with them. 1 - 6 weeks.Sealing the deal - negotiating the office lease terms with your Landlord (via your Tenant Rep Broker), comparing the various options and finalizing office lease terms.
Up to 2 weeks.Legal Process - this is the crucial process of clarifying office lease terms with your Real Estate Lawyer; making sure you understand your tenant obligations, liabilities and to ensure your commercial interests are fully protected. 4-8 weeks. Space Planning, Office Design & Build Out - kitting out your new office to meet all your office space, technical and operational requirements takes a lot of pre-planning, as does the actual build out.
Allow 4-8 weeks but could be longer for a larger sized office. Office Moving Stage - this is the physical move which also requires precision planning with your Office Moving Company prior to the actual move day. 2-4 weeks for planning.
Download the Office Move Timeline to help you establish approximate timings relating to your own office move. It guides you through the key dates in which tasks and key stages need to be completed and will be your roadmap to navigating you through a timely and well-planned office relocation.
