How should I plan for the New Office?
How to Plan for the New Office
This guide will help you to plan your requirements for the new office and set the ideal layout that enables your business to operate efficiently.
In the early stages of planning your office move, it's important to get an idea of what needs to be done and when. Establish a timeline of major tasks using the Moving Office Timeline and leave yourself plenty of time to get your new office up and running in time for your first working day.
Start by taking an inventory of every item of office furniture. This will help you work out what you are taking with you, what needs replacing or updating and what items are going to be sent to garbage. Only move items that are going to be of use to you in the new office and avoid taking anything that's just going to clutter up valuable office space.
Dispose of any unwanted items appropriately. If you are getting rid of any IT equipment, there may be garbage centers that specialize in recycling IT equipment. If you are disposing of office furniture that are still in good repair, consider donating these to a charitable organization.
Evaluate the new office with your office design team to determine the following:
- Where is the best location for workstations?
- Work out which teams need to be located next to each other in order for good communication and work flow.
- Find the best place to locate IT comms equipment where it will not be too obtrusive or even build a seperate comms room
- Determine if your staff need privacy due to the work they do or consider building quiet booths
- Determine the number and placement of electrical outlets, computer cabling and phone points. Are there enough? Do they need to moved or upgraded?
Working with a good Office Design Company will help you to create the best office space layout that improves communication, boost productivity and transforms your new workplace into a showcase for your company brand.
