How to Stay Organized during an Office Move
Organizing an office move can be even more stressful than moving home - as you have to think about how to move office without disrupting day-to-day business operations.
If you're gearing up for an office move - then these tips will help you stay organized so your office move stays on track:
Communication
Provide advance notice to colleagues, business suppliers, clients and business partners about your forthcoming relocation so everyone knows what to expect and can re-arrange their schedule around the move. In particular, staff will need to have a clear schedule for the run up to the move day, packing arrangements etc. and can assist where necessary.
De-Clutter
De-clutter as much as possible before your Office Moving Company starts the packing. This will help you to decide whether any office furniture or IT equipment needs replacing in time for the move, and a good clear out will be a great space-saving solution for your new office.
IT Equipment
Take a full inventory of all IT equipment. In doing so, also review your current IT infrastructure and decide what improvements are necessary for you to work more efficiently in the new office. IT infrastructure and network cabling all need to be installed (and tested) in advance of the move so your IT systems are ready-to-go on the first morning in your new office - without any interruption.
Use a Checklist
There's so many things to remember when you move offices, so make sure you keep a checklist of what needs to be done and tick off items as you go to track progress. Use this comprehensive Office Move Checklist for a full breakdown of what needs to be done before, during and after your office move.
Office Moving Company Liaison
Liaise closely with your Office Moving Company in the weeks leading up to the move. They will provide you with a packing schedule and timeline of events that will ensure your move day goes like clockwork.
New Office Set-Up
Ensure your Office Design Team are on track for completing any build out and that the space plan has been set up as agreed.
A well organized office move means planning ahead and using effective time management to stay organized throughout, what can be, a stressful project. Use this Moving Office Timeline to keep your office move on track.
