Key Dates of an Office Relocation
Office Relocation Key Dates
An office move is full of important deadlines and timings that you need to be aware of so that everything happens smoothly and any costly delays or oversights can be avoided. As part of your office relocation project planning, you will need to identify some important dates that form the timings of other project deadlines such as the date you need to move into a new office, the date your moving company will physically move your belongings, and the date by which you need to have signed your new lease.
If you can make sure that all these dates flow seamlessly, you will have a much better chance of a smooth and successful outcome. Here are some critical key dates that need to be identified in the early stages of the office move and communicated to your wider office relocation project team:
Lease expiry date
This can be found in your existing office lease. It is important you identify this as early as possible to ensure you give sufficient notice.
Date by which you need to give notice
You will be required to give a certain amount of notice of your departure to your landlord. Make sure you follow the deadline and the method by which you need to give notice to avoid any penalties.
The date by which you need to handover the property back to the landlord
This may not necessarily be the date you will actually move out of the premises. You may need to carry out a refrofit of the premises to make right any alterations you have made to the property, or you may need to get the property professionally cleaned to avoid any disputes in returning your security deposit. Make sure you plan accordingly and discuss with your General Contractor how long they need to fulfill the amount of work required.
A clear understanding of these dates and how they effect all other critical stages of the move will ensure a smooth and successful transfer to the new premises. Keep your office move on track with this Office Move Timeline and make sure you don't miss any important deadlines. It lists all the key dates that are relevant to almost all office relocations with interactive features to tailor it to your own requirements.
