Office Moving Disasters
Moving Day Disasters & How to Avoid Them!
It seems like everyone whose ever moved has a horror story to tell. But not every relocation has to be a disaster. With a little shared knowledge and some careful planning, these office moving disasters can be avoided.Office Moving Disasters are often a cause of poor planning and preparation, or by not hiring the right Office Moving Company. Here are some of the most common mistakes that companies make when planning their office move, along with practical ways they can best be avoided:
Access Problems
Imagine this, your moving company turns up at the new office with all your stuff and they can't get in! By not organizing or assessing the building access in advance of the move date, you could be left, quite literally, on the streets!
Make sure you liaise closely with the building manager (at both locations) to find out what the protocol is for gaining access out of office hours. Even if you don't intend to move out of hours, you never know what problems you're going to encounter. Arrange for the building manager (or someone who knows the ropes!) to be there during the move.
Make sure the security staff know what time you will be arriving and issue security passes to your moving company.
Make sure your office move is not happening the same day as other tenants moving in the same building - it's a recipe for disaster and delays.
Broken Elevator
Elevators are the biggest contributors to delayed office moves. You will need an Elevator Engineer preferably onsite throughout the move, or else their emergency contact details.
Find out what the maximum elevator load is for all elevators to avoid unnecessary breakdown.
Severe Weather Problems
Any severe weather problems can cause your office move to be delayed. Rain, snow, storms or intense heat - prepare yourself for the worst!
Make sure all furniture and equipment is correctly packaged to avoid damage in wet weather conditionsLook up the weather in advance so you can prepare for the worst!Ensure adequate refreshments are on site to avoid dehydration and keep energy levels up.
