Office Moving Dos & Don'ts
When it comes to getting your office moved smoothly, without delay or disruptions, you need to understand the basic rules of office moving. Here are some basic dos and don'ts for you to follow when planning your office move that will help execute a successful office move and minimize any business disruption.
DO
Do your homework and source the right firm of Office Movers. It pays to do your research, get (up to 3) estimates, in order to select the right Movers.
DO
Book your Office Moving Company early to secure your moving date and start planning ahead.
DO
Clear desks, and empty filing units and drawers completely to avoid contents getting damaged during transit.
DO
Label EVERYTHING using Move Tags provided by your moving company. Color coding will also help establish where items are to be located in the new office.
DO
Ensure your Office Moving Company has a copy of the new office space plan so they know the exact location of where items should be unpacked.
DON'T
Rely on just 1 moving quotation. You'll want to ensure you are getting best value in terms of cost and service, so aim for getting at least 3 office moving quotes.
DON'T
Accept moving estimates over the phone. A good office moving company will visit your current office to establish what items are to be moved in order to get you an accurate quotation.
DON'T
Attempt to pack your own PCs, phones or technical equipment as these require specialist handling (sometimes by an IT Relocation Company) or your moving company will provide protective packing.
DON'T
Move printers or copiers with print/ink inside as they may leak and cause damage to the equipment during transit.
DON'T
Leave empty boxes lying around at the new office once you have unpacked and staff are arriving. Not only will it make the place look cluttered, but it could also cause health and safety concerns.
