Office Moving Preparation
Preparing your Business for Office Moving Day
Planning for the execution of your office move is as equally important as planning the run up to your office relocation.
Being fully prepared for your office moving day will help to avoid any last minute panics or delays. There are a number of preparations that need to be completed in advance of your office move date to ease you through a seamless office relocation.
These Office Moving Preparation Tips will help to achieve a smooth transition into your new office.
Start Early!!
The later you leave your office moving preparations, the more costly your move will be and the less options you will have.
Begin the Sorting Process
Dispose of any unwanted items to garbage or better still, recycle them for better use. Taking your unwanted items with you when you move office will only lead to more expense, give you less "useable" office space and having the task of having to sort your items out at the other end. Do it now!
Utility & Office Services Notification
Arrange to close down and / or transfer accounts with all Utility Companies and office services before the office moving day. Be sure to check that the connection to the new office has been set up for the correct timeframe so all services are up and running in time for your arrival.
Delivery of Crates
Arrange for the delivery of crates from your Office Moving Company at least 2 weeks prior to the office move. This is so that staff can sort out and crate their personal desk items, with everything labelled correctly.
Back up Data & Computers
Ensure all business-critical data and equipment is backed up and stored at an off-site location where it can be easily transferred in the event of a disaster.
Finalize New Office Floor Plan
Agree and Sign-off the new office floor plan with your Office Design Company, distribute copies to Office Moving Company, staff and also have copies available at the new office.
And don't forget to:
- empty, defrost and clean refrigerator
- collect old office keys from employees & distribute new ones
- arrange for inspection of old premises with the landlord
Finally, to ensure you are fully prepared for your office moving day, use the Office Moving Checklist. It walks you through every task that needs to be done both in the run up to moving day and beyond!
