Office Relocation Logistics Checklist
Planning the Logistics of an Office Relocation
For an office relocation to be planned successfully, you will need to have a Logistics Plan which incorporates the physical move, the IT Relocation and preparing the new office for occupation.
The logistics of an office relocation can seem like a daunting task, but having a Checklist to guide you through what needs to be done will help keep your office move on track. Organization and delegation is the key to achieving a smooth and seamless transition to your new office.
Packing Logistics
Packing up all your belongings may seem like a logistical nightmare at first, but careful planning with your Office Moving Company will ensure a systematic approach. Disucss a packing schedule in advance of your move date, so that some items that are not used regurlarly can be packed in advance. A color code system is also essential to establish so the moving company know where items needs to be unpacked in the new location.
IT Relocation Logistics
Use the IT Relocation Plan which details how you are going to de-commission and re-commission your PCs, business phones and network. Remember that time will be of the essence during the physical IT relocation so it is important to have a test plan so that all communication equipment is working as it should when staff arrive on the first day. It is strongly advised to contact an IT Relocation Company to manage this complex part of your move.
Logistics of Preparing New Office
Getting your office ready for occupation will be managed by your Office Design Company, but there are IT considerations as well. Ensure the correct network cabling has been put in and that you have the sufficient number of power outlets and phone lines (in their correct place). Some new ones may need to be ordered in advance. You will also need to transfer your utilities, test the wi-fi and broadband speed.
Keep in mind your office relocation timeline. Some items might take up to weeks or months to arrange while some will take considerably lesser time. A time frame will ensure you meet the necessary deadlines and also facilitate greater coordination among the business and other office relocation professionals.
Use the Office Moving Checklist to plan the entire logistics of your office relocation so that everything goes according to the plan.
