Office Relocation Survival Tips
How to Survive an Office Relocation!
Companies that are relocating to a new office all-too-often find the whole thing an overwhelming experience. There are many critical decisions to be made, a new office to find, then you have to design and configure the space to your needs, not to mention communicating the move to staff and making sure that both locations dovetail seamlessly.
We've put together these survival tips to help you stay one step ahead during the planning stages, and ensure you keep your cool when it comes to the day of the move.
Plan Early
I'm always amazed at how unprepared so many businesses are when it comes to their office relocation. They leave critical things to the last minute which leads to making rushed decisions, and in some cases, more costs. Make sure you read up on the right planning guides and used tried-&-tested templates and tools from our Resource Center to help you plan efficiently and keep your office move on the right track.
Prepare for the Worst
It may sound negative but preparing your business for the worst case scenario will stand you in good stead if you happen to experience any delays. Consider a Disaster Recovery Plan in the event your IT relocation doesn't go as smoothly as you had expected, and make sure your data back up is up-to-date prior to the relocation.
Follow a Process
If you find yourself worrying about how the office move is going to go then just remember that organizing an office relocation is about following a process, and just like any other process it can be broken down into manageable phases and tasks. Simply follow the process using the Moving Office Timetable Template. And if some tasks take a little longer than expected then at least you've followed a process! To make sure your office relocation goes smoothly, follow these 10 Golden Rules of Moving Office.
