Office Space Planning Process
Office Space Planning
Having a clear Office Space Plan before you move office can do wonders for your new office space. It results in better work processes, a more comfortable working environment and improved staff efficiency.
Whilst you will no doubt have some rough ideas of how you want your new office to look, it's worth spending some time thinking more strategically about your future office space plan.
Good Office Space Planning goes far beyond the expertise and duties of an Office Move Co-ordinator. You will need to hire an Office Design Team, consisting of Architects, Office Designers and General Contractors to help you deliver an inspiring yet functional working space that meets both your requirements and budget.
A briefing with them will help to ascertain all of your office space requirements; including working practices, culture, technical considerations, staff levels and corporate structure. It will also involve a more detailed analysis of how your use your existing office space and examine staff interaction, client/visitor traffic flow, storage use & requirements, noise levels and lighting requirements. These are things you may not have considered before, but will be important if you are to get the most from your new office space.
A change in business environment is an ideal opportunity to re-organize what is and isn't working in your current office space and improve workspace layout to enhance productivity and communication. The Office Space Planning process should look carefully at all these areas so that your company florishes in your new environment.
Office Space Planning - Technical Considerations
Part of the Office Space Planning process involves looking carefully at the best location for workstations, PCs, Phones and other 'communal' equipment such as copiers, printers and scanners. All IT equipment will need to be clearly mapped out on an IT Configuration Plan so the cabling infrastructure in the new office can be configured correctly before move day.
