Porting your Business Phone Number when Moving Office
Business Phone Number Portability
Number portability is the ability to keep the same phone number wherever you move office to. Changing telephone numbers when your move office can be a costly and time consuming process. You run the risk of losing customers during the move, let alone having to deal with the hassle of informing all your clients, reprinting letterheads, business cards and changing every directory.
Retaining your current business number to the new office is the easiest solution; it saves costs and eliminates the hassle of having to change your number. However, the ability to port your number will all depend on where (and how far) you are relocating. If you are moving within the same telephone exchange, you may be able to keep your existing business phone number.
However, if you are moving Cities or States, the chances are, you will need to change phone numbers. Speak to your IT & Telecom Solution Provider to find out whether it's possible to port your business number, and whether they can manage the process on your behalf. There are a number of other options to enable you to keep your business phone number. They include:
Switching to VoIP
Switching to VoIP is particularly worth looking into when you move office. It can lower your monthly phone bill and simplify your telecom network using IP-based voice and data solutions.
Toll-Free Number
For small businesses, a toll-free number can be a worthwhile investment. If your business relocates in the future, the toll-free number can stay with you wherever your business may move to. The number is often easier for your customers to remember too.
Research your Options & Sign up with a new Carrier
Relocating your business is the ideal time to switch telecom carriers, and take full advantage of streamlining your voice and data services into an efficient internet and phone package. If you have to change your phone number, then changing telecom providers may be a cost-effective solution.
Contact an IT & Telecom Solution Provider in your area to find out whether it's possible to port your business phone number.
