Pre-Move Office Preparation
A major key to the success of any office relocation is the pre-move planning. From the moment your business decides to relocate there will be a whole load of organizing and planning that needs to get done. Use the Office Move Checklist to plan every step of the move and find out what needs to be done (by when).
This detailed plan are duties that need to be completed just prior to your office moving day:
Keep your staff fully informed
Provide them with a packing and moving schedule so they know when shut down is and when things are likely to be fully operational in the new office. Remember they will need to work around the move, and possibly re-arrange meetings so as not to coincide with any business disruption that might occur around the move.
Select Move Co-ordinators
Ask whether any staff can act as Move Co-ordinators on the day of the move. You will need people at both locations to ensure everything runs smoothly, and that your Office Moving Company has a point of contact.
Meet with your Office Moving Company prior to packing up your belongings to devise a memorable color labelling system that will ensure all office peripherals are packed according to their new location, and ensure that nothing gets left out or mislaid.
Arrangements for vacating your current premises
With so much focus on getting your new office set up, it's easy to forget what you need to on your current office before handing it back over to your Landlord. Think about retrofit, cleaning, Landlord handover meeting, returning keys and the return of your security deposit.
Arrange for your utilities and other office services to be shut down in your office and set up ready in the new one. These may need testing prior to move day so get everything switched on beforehand so you have time to troubleshoot any issues.
