The Must-Have IT Relocation Checklist
Relocating your business technology equipment can be extremely stressful, especially when it's so crucial to the smooth running of your business. Many companies overlook some of the obvious, yet more important items when migrating computers and office phones to a new location.
This must-have IT relocation checklist lays out all this important items that need your attention if you want your office move to run smoothly:
Voice & Data
Find out who your phone line carriers are and what your terms of service are. Tell them you are moving and discuss the set-up and transfer for the new office. Will you be able to keep your phone numbers when you move?
New Office IT Services
Find out what IT services your new office has to offer for voice, internet etc. Order any new circuits or phone lines with your carrier and have them installed well before the move date.
Office Layout
You will need to establish your new office layout and the location of work stations early on in order to run cables and terminate jacks.
Cabling Requirements
When determining your cabling needs think of how your business is likely to grow in the foreseeable future. Consider voice, data, security, AV, and access. Adding the required cabling in the initial project will save you money and time rather than doing it at a later stage as an add-on.
Port Phone Numbers
Schedule, with your current carrier, your phone numbers to be moved to your new carrier.
Test Connections
You'll need a thorough IT test plan to make sure that all connections are working and everything is connected to the network. Be sure to test all DDIs and all the features of your phone system.
