Top 10 Office Moving Packing Tips
Packing Tips for your Office Move
We all know that moving can be stressful, especially during the run up to the move day when stress levels peak and your office suddenly become overcrowded with boxes. But with a bit of forward planning, you can get your office belongings all packed up in time to ensure your move day goes like clockwork.
1. Familiarize yourself with new Location
Take several visits to the new office with your Office Moving Company to check the access of the building and whether all your goods can fit into the elevator.
2. Eliminate as much garbage as you can
Try to throw away what you don't need and recycle what you can prior to the moving day. This will make it easier for your Office Moving Team to pack up only those items that are going to the new office.
3. Label, label, label
Even if it's obvious what the item is underneath all that packing, it's surprising how you forget once everything is loaded into the moving trucks. A clear labelling system will help you get organized more quickly at the other end and avoid items being lost.
4. Communication
Make sure all your employees know what the schedule is for office moving day; what is expected of them and where they need to be.
5. Filing Cabinets
If you are able to lock filing cabinets securely and files can still stay in tack if they are moved carefully, there is no need to empty them which can save a lot of time.
6. IT Equipment
IT equipment needs specialist handling, and it's advisable to ask an IT Relocation Company to carry out this important part of the move. They will also be able to ensure your new office is set up with sufficient cabling infrastructure to meet your business technology requirements.
7. Electrical Machinery
Many machines need to be handled in certain ways. If you are renting any of your equipment, make sure you notify your rental company before the day of the move.
8. Back up Data
Don't risk losing any valuable company data when you move to a new office. Take a back-up of everything and store securely off-site.
9. Keep computer power jacks & peripherals together
Make sure that the respective power jack, keyboard and mouse etc are labelled and packed together with each computer. It's surprising how such things go adrift during an office move.
10. New Office Layout
Communicate the new office layout with your Office Moving Company so they know what order to load the truck, and also where everything needs to be placed to get your business back up and running quickly.
