Vetting Office Moving Companies
Choosing a moving partner for your office relocation can often come down to cost, but there are many other important factors that need to be taken into account. A business move is a complicated and challenging endeavor that involves more than simply paying a moving company to transport your office belongings from A to B.
There are some specific steps businesses should take to vet potential office moving companies and ensure you choose the right partner:
Collaboration
The most successful moves happen when the business and the moving company work closely together to ensure everything runs smoothly; from creating a workable moving plan right through to executing the move day itself. Everything needs to dovetail smoothly and this can only work when both parties collaborate together.
Top tip: Ask yourself: Could we, as a business, work with this moving company? Is there an understanding in terms of your goals, requirements and business-critical timescales?
Treat the moving company like a partner during the moving office process. They'll be working closely with you from the early planning, through to the packing, move day and even beyond so it's important to share information and work closely with them throughout the project.
Capabilities
The ability to handle the logistics required to move your equipment, and handle any challenges that may arise as a result of setting up your office in the new facility is essential.
Top Tip: Ask the moving company about manpower and how many men they intend on allocating to your move. Also, what safeguards they intend to put in place to overcome any challenges and downtime during the move.
References
There are many moving companies out there who claim to be experts at moving businesses, but the reality may be quite different, and you can really only prove it by obtaining references and verifying them for yourself. You should also check out the company's rating with the Better Business Bureau (BBB).
Top tip: Don't take their word for it - investigate it for yourself. Ask for written references and verify them for yourself via a phone call. This also gives you opportunity to ask them any questions in relation to how they performed.
Start the vetting process by completing this form. We'll send you details of several moving companies in your area to meet with. After vetting three companies, you should get a good idea of which company is right for you.
