What not to forget when Moving Offices
During the final weeks before the move and the end is finally is sight. But with this comes the need to tie up loose ends and make sure everything is in place to enjoy a smooth office relocation. To help eliminate the stress associated with moving office, we've identified some of the smaller, yet essential things that you can't afford to forget:
Mail redirection
Even though you may have sent your Change of Address Notifications out to clients and organizations, it's still recommended that you set up mail redirection. This service can catch any drippings of important mail from companies who may not have been notified, or those that have not updated their CRM records.
Staff Orientation Packs
Moving to a new location will bring about all sorts of changes for your staff, so providing them with a staff orientation pack will help them settle into their new environment quicker and find their way around the immediate amenities. It may include local shops, cafes, eateries and transportation facilities.
Make sure all staff have entrance cards and keys to the new office, and that they handover any keys to the 'old' office.
Office Cleaning
Make arrangements to have your old office cleaned so that the handover to your landlord is easy and clear of disagreements. Don't leave any redundant office furniture lying around as your landlord is likely to charge you for clearance.
Utilities
Contact all your utility companies to ensure they will transfer your accounts to the new location. Verify with them that the electricity and water supply will be available in your new office when you need it so that you don't suffer any downtime.
Updating contact details
Amend all your marketing collateral (business cards, website, letterhead) that contains your office address, and have these ready in time for the move so that all your contacts are informed of your change of address.
Finally, make sure you are well prepared for your office moving company to pack up everything.
Use this Office Moving Checklist to make sure you've done everything you need to to ensure a smooth office move day.
